Richie Salmon Joins Neir’s Ambassadors Club to Promote Mental Health Awareness

Queens, NY – July 28, 2025 – Neir’s Tavern, a historic New York City staple since 1829, proudly highlights Richie Salmon, President of the Neir’s Ambassadors Club, for championing mental health awareness as part of the tavern’s growing mission to support community-driven causes on the road to its 200th anniversary in 2029.

Salmon, a longtime advocate for social issues, has chosen mental health as his focus for the year — a topic he believes is too often overlooked or misunderstood. Through his leadership and partnership with Neir’s Tavern, he’s working to destigmatize conversations around mental health and promote greater understanding, support, and access to resources.

“The only way to try — you can’t prevent it — but to stop the bleeding is making sure people are aware,” said Salmon. “Family members and others have to accept that people do have mental health issues. It’s real, and we need to talk about it.”

Mental health conditions affect tens of millions of people in the United States every year, yet many suffer in silence due to shame or lack of understanding. By using his platform at Neir’s Tavern, Salmon is turning that silence into awareness — and encouraging others to do the same.

Founded in 1829, Neir’s Tavern has been a beloved fixture in the Woodhaven, Queens community and is widely considered one of New York’s most treasured historical landmarks. Through the Ambassadors Club, Neir’s is building a coalition of champions who are preserving history while tackling modern challenges that affect everyday lives.
