Cecilia Vaicels Joins Neir’s Ambassadors Club to Help

Queens, NY – July 28, 2025 – Neir’s Tavern, a historic New York City staple since 1829, today announced that Cecilia Vaicels has joined the Neir’s Ambassadors Club, a growing coalition of community supporters dedicated to helping the iconic tavern reach its 200th anniversary in 2029 and beyond.

As a dues-paying member, Vaicels becomes part of a special group that is actively investing in the future of one of the oldest bars in America. In addition to supporting the tavern’s preservation, she is using her ambassadorship to bring attention to food insecurity — a cause she addresses firsthand by helping fill the food pantry at Our Lady of Lourdes in Queens Village, NY.

“We all deserve dignity — and sometimes that starts with something as simple as a meal,” said Vaicels.

According to Feeding America, more than 44 million people in the United States, including 1 in 5 children, experience food insecurity each year. Through her involvement, Vaicels is showing how local action and historic spaces like Neir’s can work hand in hand to care for neighbors in need.

Founded in 1829, Neir’s Tavern has long been a cornerstone of the Woodhaven, Queens community and is widely regarded as one of New York City’s most treasured historical landmarks. Through the Ambassadors Club, the tavern is building a network of champions committed to keeping its doors open and its story alive.

“Cecilia is helping us remember that history isn’t just about the past — it’s also about how we show up for each other today,” said Loycent Gordon, Owner of Neir’s Tavern. “She’s turning compassion into action, and that’s something we’re proud to support.”

The Neir’s Ambassadors Club offers supporters a meaningful way to contribute to the tavern’s preservation while receiving exclusive perks, recognition, and opportunities to engage in its ongoing story.
