Queens, NY – October 4, 2025 – Neir’s Tavern, a historic New York City staple since 1829, proudly announces the honorees for its 196th Anniversary Road to 200 Block Party, a milestone celebration honoring community leaders and changemakers who exemplify the tavern’s enduring spirit of resilience, service, and unity.

This year’s honorees are:

• Magee Hickey – Neir’s Tavern Russell Boone Legacy Award

• Liam Castro – Neir’s Tavern Ambassador of the Year Award

• Nydia Velázquez – Neir’s Tavern History & Preservation Award

• Margie Schmidt – Neir’s Tavern Small Business Champion Award

• Chris Dudin – Neir’s Tavern Advocacy Award

• Jennifer Ierardi – Neir’s Tavern Community Service Award

The presentation ceremony will take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 4, 2025, during the 196th Anniversary Road to 200 Block Party. The celebration runs from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM and will feature live music, food, family-friendly activities, and special tributes to the honorees.

Founded in 1829, Neir’s Tavern has survived Prohibition, the Great Depression, and countless moments of change — all while remaining a cornerstone of the Woodhaven community. As the tavern approaches its 200th year, events like the block party highlight its mission to preserve history while embracing the causes and people shaping tomorrow.
